Perfect!

I received these cards awhile back, along with several books and other decks, from a good friend. The deck is the Pocket Swiss deck, and I was disappointed to learn that I didn't have the accompanying book with the cards! I searched and found several that it could possibly be, and after a great deal of reading, decided this was the book I needed. Boy is it ever!!! I did a self reading and I am very grateful to have this on-spot book. It is FULL of detailed explanations, and various "side" meanings that accompany the card being read. I was amazed to be fair. One card had almost four pages of information! I could not be happier with this addition since Hermes Trismegistus (Greek God) or Thoth (Egyptian God) as he is also known as, is one I have studied for many, many years now, and after reading Corpus Hermeculum and The Emerald Tablets, to have a deck that is dedicated to him is wonderful! I recommend the deck to anyone who is intrigued by Hermes, or is learning about him, and this book is a must have to accompany the deck. Thumbs up!

Well, this book is good for the more advanced. I really like the Crowley Tarot cards; yet, I've been told this is too advanced for a beginner. I don't care... I wanted it. :)

But, the book is a bit hard to understand. I think it gives excellent details about all the symbols. But, there is just so much to swallow for someone new to it. I bet this book is great for those that have a better grasp of Tarot reading. I can't interpret what the interpretations mean. I know that sounds odd, but I just don't know how to apply the information in the book with what my cards show. I get a somewhat jist of it, but I know I'm missing out on alot, since this book has so much detailed information that I just wish I could understand.

The other thing is the book itself was not bound well. It fell apart not too long after I had it, some of the pages separated.

I hope to find books about the Crowley Tarot more easily understood.

A good companion for the Thoth Deck

This is not really a beginner tarot text, but the Thoth deck is not a beginner's deck, either. This is an extremely visual approach to the deck, and brings in a lot of outside material as well. If you choose to the ignore the more esoteric Crowley approaches, e.g. Qabala, there is still plenty here to get you going with this fabulous deck. I say it's not a beginner deck, but with a book this accessible, less experienced readers might be able to get over that hurdle.

While Crowley's "The Book of Thoth" is the definitive text to accompany the Thoth deck--and if you spend a lot of time with the deck, you're going to want to dive into that eventually--this book is very detailed while still being user-friendly. For those new to the Tarot, or to the Thoth deck, this is probably the best place to start. A good bridge between this book and the BOT is Lon DuQuette's *excellent* book about the deck.

The presentation of this material is also very well-done; the layout makes the book easy to use as a reference.

Finally, the spreads in the back alone make this worth the price of admission!

About the Author
Richard Penner, professor at the Hotel School at Cornell University since 1970, teaches hotel planning, development, and interior design. Experienced in both architecture and hotel management, he spent year-long sabbaticals with international designer Hirsch Bedner Associates (Santa Monica, CA) and the architecture group of Starwood Hotels and Resorts (White Plains, NY). A graduate of Cornell University, with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architecture, he is the author of four books―two coauthored with the late Walter Rutes, who was the lead author on the first edition of Hotel Design, Development, and Planning. In 1992 Hospitality Design magazine honored Penner with its Platinum Circle Award for contributions to hospitality design as an author and teacher. He has presented seminars on development, hotel planning, and interior design throughout the world. He has served a three-year term as Director of Graduate Studies at the Hotel School, has been conference coordinator for design seminars at the European Meeting on Hotel Interior Design in Rimini, Italy, and has chaired five Hospitality Design Roundtables sponsored by the Center for Hospitality Research at Cornell.

Lawrence Adams, AIA, Vice President of ForrestPerkins, has managed and directed the design of large-scale development projects at major architectural and planning firms over the last thirty-five years. A global authority on hotel and resort design, Mr. Adams served as adjunct faculty at New York University for nine years teaching graduate courses on Hotel Design and Development. He also co-authored Hotel Design, Planning and Development (2001) with Walter Rutes and Richard Penner. Among his most significant projects are the New York Four Seasons Hotel, the RIGHA Royal Hotel, Chambers Hotel, The Westin Beach Resort & Spa, Fort Lauderdale, and the National Headquarters of the Marine Corps Reserve.

Stephani K. A. Robson joined the faculty at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration in 1993. A specialist in hospitality design psychology, she has contributed numerous research articles to academic journals including the Journal of Environmental Psychology and the Cornell Hospitality Quarterly and frequently writes for trade journals on topics related to hospitality design and development.

The book have complete information about designing & developing various types of hotels. From urban hotel to convention hotel.
It goes into detail in designing guestroom, public spaces, back of the house, etc, as well as covered new technology in hospitality & construction.
It's also includes lots of pictures and hotel layout.

I bought the second edition. It was published in 2012, so many information & hotel examples are up to date. The book appearance & layout like a college text book.
I think it's intended for college class cause the author is a Cornell professor.

This book becomes one of my reference book. Highly recommended reading for developing a hotel.

Superb and Worthy Successor to Burnham's 3 Volume Celestial Handbook!! For many years now there has been talk about a new, revised and updated edition of Robert Burham's 3 volume Celestial Handbook, an indispensible reference work for any even halfway serious amateur astronomer, which unfortunately has not been revised since 1978 making much of the material it contains no longer accurate or as relevant as it was 40 years ago. While no one seems to have been willing to take on such a daunting, and somewhat inflexible, task as bringing that vast work up to date we now have the first two volumes [there are supposed to be 8 volumes in all when it is complete] of a new multiple volume set by Jeff Kanipe and Dennis Webb which does much of what such a revised Burnham's would likely have done and much more as well. The very GOOD NEWS is that this is indeed a SUPERB AND WORTHY SUCCESSOR TO BURNHAM and is no doubt destined to remain the standard reference work of its type for the next several decades to come!! I have been an amateur astronomer for more than 50 years now and at least flatter myself to know quite a bit about the subject, roughly at about the level of the old Burnham's Handbook, which is, of course, where a good portion of my knowledge came from. This new work is a bit more selective in the topics its covers, probably because there are now more, and very detailed obsever's guides available than when Burnham compiled his three volume masterpiece. But the scholarship level here is every bit as high, if not higher still, and the writing throughout is superb, invariably comprehensive in scope yet never tedious or gratuitously detailed. In fact I quickly found myself reading rather large sections of the text simply because the prose was invariavbly inviting and interesting, easy to comprehend and choke full of novel observations and insights which should engage anyone with a basic acquaintance of the many types of astronomical objects depicted and discussed. All in all, then, this is a TRULY MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENT and a work easily deserving a full a 5 star Amazon rating!! Anyone with more than a passing interest in Astronomy will defnitely want to own one, and, more important, will undoubtedly find themselves consulting it on a regular basis for years to come!!

Preliminary: This review is for the 2nd Edition; it appears that the third edition has an additional author cited. I first came across this book in a library in Indianapolis. So I picked up a copy.

This book covers pretty much everything you need to know about Currency Trading including technical analysis, fundamentals, psychology, and the book even digs into details about the actual currency pairs.

I would say this book has great breadth, but not a lot of depth. For example, if you want to learn more about technical analysis, you will need to pick up another book because his coverage on indicators is pretty meager. Actually, I felt his coverage of fundamentals was more in-depth than technical analysis. You will find descriptions of patterns without an image to go along with it!

The book is lighter fare—so you should be able to digest ten or more pages in a single sitting.

Since I have read a number of other books, a good part of this book is just filler for me. Yet Brian does offer some specific insights and tidbits that augment my knowledge from other books; so I did read this book cover to cover. For example, he said, “don't adjust your take-profit targets without also adjusting your stop-loss order in the same direction.” This is the type of tidbit that I simply hadn't thought about before. Whether I actually choose to do this is not the point—the point is that I will give it some consideration. Thus, the breadth of Currency Trading For Dummies is worth the read, even if you have read a number of more “advanced” books.

Brian does work for FOREX.com, but he point this fact out a few times, and I didn't see any heavy pushing or the “big sell.” There may be a conflict of interest or bias for someone who hasn't chosen a broker—I don't really know because I chose a broker before reading the book.

My opinion: definitely worth the “used” price. I wouldn't use this as a “first” book for ForEx. I would go with Chen for that. But consider this for your “second” book.

Very Good, but has bias

The author knows a lot about Forex and overall this is a must-read book for anyone into this market. However, the author doesnt explain what ecn/stp/dd brokers are (and why you should run away from dd), tries to make the reader think that opening an account outside the USA is riskier, and finally states that leverage above 50:1 isnt a good thing. Perhaps all this is because the Author works for a dd (dealing desk) brokerage in the USA, where leverage is limited... All in all you should read this book, but be critical and dont take every statement as absolute truth, as there are interests in play here.

The first edition of "Currency Trading for Dummies' was published in 2007 and with the intervening four years, a roller coaster ride for investors, this new second edition can not come at a more convenient time. The 2007 version had two authors, Brian Dolan and Mark Galant, now Dolan remains as the sole author. The book retains its basic structure and accessible format; instructive, approachable, easy to read with a thorough index keyed to what the reader might be looking for. Some subsections have been pushed forward into other chapters and, more importantly, data on currency is updated and some explanations and examples have been brought current in referring to the events of 2008 - 2010. This is a fine and important addition to any investor's library written by experienced knowledgeable traders.

She is charmingly straightforward about her many affairs and just as openly discusses her eight marriages and ever-close family. She also tells her side of the famous slapping incident with a Beverly Hills cop last year. In the end, Gabor comes across as a frank, spontaneous woman who craves intimacy, excitement and power but tends to fall in love with difficult men, most notably professional cad George Sanders. A bonus for the reader are the sometimes pathetic come-on lines she has been subjected to by rich and famous men. For example, running into Gabor on the street in Manhattan, CBS head William Paley once suggested spending the afternoon in bed together, which she was inclined to do, but then he offended her, and botched the affair, by promising her a TV show if she would. It's trash, but I couldn't put it down!

This is one of those books that you're embarrassed to be seen reading, buying, or checking out of the library. Zsa Zsa has written the most egotistical book I've ever read! Some of it is SO hard to believe, such as the little chapter about the priest who wanted to break his vows for one night of passion with Ms. Gabor (to make it even more incredible, her husband allegedly encouraged her to accept, telling her that it was his fantasy to see her with a priest). But this book was great entertainment, like a saucy bit out of the National Enquirer. Despite the fact that it may have lowered my IQ a few points, it was worth the hours it took to read it. Great pictures, too, of the young Zsa Zsa, who was a great beauty back in the days.

You'll Just Love This, Darling

One does not expect an actress whose public persona is not of the literati to so narrate so well her life story. Zsa Zsa does indeed succeed in telling us how she was raised and transitioned into acting along with a frank assessment of her many marriages. She even tells us a couple of funny stories worthy of a master comedian, such as the parrot episode. (You'll have to buy the book to find out)

If there is one thing that the book may lack is more behind-the-scenes observations of the various television and film productions in which she acted.

Still, an enjoyable read.
